IBS / IBD

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are gastrointestinal disorders that present with distinct signs and symptoms. Common signs of IBS include abdominal pain, bloating, changes in bowel habits. In contrast, IBD, which encompasses conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, may involve persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, weight loss, and abdominal cramping.

Does This Sound Like You?

Have you already seen your primary care doctor (or even GI specialists) about chronic gut issues, only to be diagnosed with IBS, feeling more confused and lost than ever?

Have you also been given a prescription to deal with the symptoms but notice that they only help marginally or not at all?

Are you still dealing with regular bloating, diarrhea, and stomach cramps disrupting your everyday life and making you fear food for what it might do to your digestion?

Unfortunately, most doctors who use the diagnosis IBS are missing the mark and recommend motility medications and muscle relaxers that don’t begin to deal with the real cause of your symptoms.  In fact , 70% of IBS cases are SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) that can be easily resolved with the right testing and healing protocols.

One of the reasons people struggle to heal digestive issues has to do with the way conventional medicine diagnoses these conditions. IBS is a blanket term for a group of symptoms when they can’t determine the true cause of your digestive distress. It’s no wonder so many people suffer long term with gut conditions never finding the answers they need!

The problem with this is that there are many reasons why you could experience chronic digestive distress, from bacteria overgrowth, to food intolerances, to SIBO, Leaky Gut which may be related to each other or not depending on the person.

That’s why we get to the bottom of your digestive issues with advanced, more complete testing that is not part of the basic, standard protocol which almost always misses the real causes. Afterwards it is essential to rebuild your gut health by following a 5R’s protocol (remove, replace, reinoculate, repair and rebalance) which covers all the areas of digestive health and many areas that are neglected by standard treatment options.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

IBD, an autoimmune disease, is a general term for chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. The two most common types of IBD are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Both disorders are characterized by periods of flare-ups, during which symptoms are severe, and remission, when symptoms are mild or nonexistent. IBD can be a debilitating condition, causing abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, and fatigue. In some cases, it can also lead to life-threatening complications such as perforation of the intestines or liver failure.

While there is no cure for IBD, many people are able to lead an active life with few or almost no flare-ups when they find the right practitioner who can help them. We help people address all the areas of their gut health including factors like diet, food sensitivities or allergies, genetics, an altered microbiome, environmental exposures, and a leaky gut.
